MORGAN COUNTY - A 17-year old Versailles resident drowned in a private farm pond Sunday afternoon.
Timothy Charles Lancaster was found at the bottom of the pond by his father, who dove underwater to search for the missing teen, according to the Missouri Water Patrol report.
The drowning is believed to have occurred around 3 p.m. on property off Red Ribbon Road in Versailles, Missouri. The body was recovered in 6.5 feet of water.
Family noticed Lancaster was missing after they left the pond to eat, according to the Water Patrol report. Family members searched several locations on the property when a witness stated Lancaster was last seen swimming toward the bank before they had gone inside.
The father took a paddleboat to where the victim was last seen and began diving in the water. He felt Lancaster's shirt and pulled him from the bottom of the pond.
The report states Lancaster was not wearing a life jacket.
The body was taken to the Kidwell Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
